Summer Camp

Beginning March 12, 2021, we will offer a modified family program called Family Getaway Weekends. Please see the Volunteer Schedule for more information.

Summer Camp
(Summer Camp is currently on hiatus as Camp hosts Family Getaways throughout 2021 (please see above).

Multiple sessions of overnight camp offer our campers the chance to come to camp and catch a fish, make a woodshop project, or climb our high tower while making some wonderful new friends. Each session of camp we host a different illness group. Volunteers serve as Cabin Counselors who live and play with our campers, helping to give them the best week of their lives. We have a great need for male volunteers during our summer program! You can also volunteer in the Dining Hall, or if qualified, in the Equestrian Center. Summer sessions require a 6 – 8 day commitment. Volunteer arrival day is the day before campers arrive.

Summer Camp Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Cabin Counselors (both males and females)
  • Medical Support, Nurses and Physicians
  • Dining Hall / Dishwashers

Cabin Counselors

The primary responsibility of a cabin counselor is to bring new energy and fresh ideas to their cabin while taking care of the daily needs of 8 to 10 campers in their cabin. This 24-hour-a-day job requires lots of energy and is focused on helping the campers have an exciting and empowering experience. Cabin counselors are expected to lead by example and live in the cabin for the week. Typically 2 to 3 volunteer counselors will join 2 summer staff counselors in the cabin for a 5 counselor to 10 camper ratio.

Medical Support, Nurse, and Physician

The medical volunteers usually consist of nurses and doctors that specialize in the illness we are serving during that session. Some sessions require other medical volunteers, such as pharmacists, EMT/Paramedics and respiratory therapists. They work side by side with our camp doctor and nurse. If you volunteer as part of our medical team, you must have your Florida License appropriate for your discipline. Medical and nursing students are encouraged to volunteer as cabin counselors. Please click here for more information about joining our medical team.

Dining Hall / Kitchen / Dishwasher

Dining Hall / Kitchen / Dishwasher volunteers help the food service manager and chef serve hearty and healthy meals all day long. They set and clean up the dining hall before and after the meals as well as prepare the food that everyone enjoys for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
