Who we Serve Shining Voices of Camp

Camp Boggy Creek is specifically designed for children with chronic or life threatening illnesses and allows them to safely enjoy the activities of a “traditional” camp. Between early morning swims and evening campfires, children whose lives have been a series of medical procedures and hospital stays are transformed into just “kids.” They have a chance to be with others coping with the same illness or condition and realize that they are not alone.

The prescription for the day is fun, fun, fun! Laughter, giggles, friendships and excitement abound on the 232 acres of tall pines, majestic oaks and nature trails. Campers are empowered to do things they never dreamed they could do. They are infused with a spirit of accomplishment at every turn and allowed to forget that “they have what they have.” For many of them it is the first time they’ve felt “normal” since their diagnosis.

Programs at Camp Boggy Creek include week long summer sessions as well as family retreat weekends and each includes full medical coverage with on site professionals in the illness specialty being served.

Shining Voices of CampDuring each of our summer sessions, up to 150 children with like illnesses arrive for a week of fun, adventure and independence. During weekends in the spring and fall we welcome 32 campers and their whole families to camp where parents can relax and find needed support among other families dealing with similar emotional and financial challenges. Brothers and sisters get to participate in the same fun-filled activities since every family member is considered a camper during family weekends.

The Camp Boggy Creek experience is more than a fun-filled getaway. It helps children and their families to better cope with the day-to-day challenges they face in dealing with serious illness.
