As Florida’s only multi-disease residential camp, Camp Boggy Creek relies on the incredible support we receive from our medical volunteers…doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other medical professionals. It is our mission to enrich the lives of children dealing with chronic or life-threatening illnesses by creating camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound. Our medical volunteers help to deliver the “medically sound” part…they’re in on the fun, exciting and memorable parts too!

For each of our summer sessions, our own full time physician and nurse are augmented by as many as 6 volunteer nurses and doctors…and that is in addition to the four nurses we hire for the summer! We also rely on volunteer doctors and nurses to help care for our campers during the many family retreat weekends we host in the fall and spring. It is this extensive medical support that gives the parents of seriously ill children the confidence to let those children come to Camp Boggy Creek.

Your volunteer experience will do more than enrich the lives of our campers and their families; it will enrich you. After returning to their practices, treatment centers or hospitals, many of our medical volunteers have said that spending time with children in the camp setting has made them appreciate that they are children first and patients second.
