Welcome! Thank you for looking into how you can help Camp Boggy Creek. There are many ways to help us serve our campers and families.

Each of our campers receives a handmade afghan and a handmade teddy bear to take home. While our campers are here, they sleep on beds covered with beautiful quilts.

Our biggest need is for Boggy Bears and afghans, because they are the two items we give to the campers to take home with them, so we are constantly using up our supply.

Because bed quilts and decorative quilts stay at camp, we have a smaller need for them, yet always need some in reserve to replace worn bed quilts and to rotate our decorative quilts.

Boggy Bears

Each camper gets to take home a hand-made teddy bear. They aren’t just any teddy bears, though; they are Boggy Bears, all made from the same pattern so they are all the same size and shape.
Please note that this is a difficult pattern that takes an experienced seamstress 2 ½ hours to complete.

Please use cotton fabrics of colorful prints pleasing to the eye.
The finished bears are approximately 17 inches in height.
When your bear is finished, please take an extra minute to double-check that you have removed all pins and needles. We do not want anyone to get stuck!

The directions contain specifics about the bear-making process. Please them read carefully, whether you are an inexperienced or experienced seamstress.

Afghans
Each camper and family member gets to take home an afghan.
Afghans can be crocheted or knitted.
Please make afghans 35-40 inches wide by 40-50 inches long.
Please use a lightweight yarn.
Feel free to be creative in your design.

Quilts for Beds
Each bed in our cabins and staff lodges is covered by a beautiful lightweight quilt.
Please make bed quilts 60 inches by 80 inches. They are used on twin beds.
Please use cotton or flannelette.
Please make sure they are machine washable.
Please make them light – not too heavy or too warm – it’s fairly warm in Florida already!

When finished, please take a minute to double-check that you have removed all pins and needles. We do not want anyone to get stuck!

Decorative Quilts
Decorative quilts are used as wall hangings in various buildings around camp. They help make our buildings cozy.
Please make decorative quilts no larger than 7 feet by 10 feet.
Decorative quilts do not need to be machine washable.
Quilts should be cheerful and bright.
Each cabin is themed in one of our camp colors: green, red, yellow, or blue. A quilt themed in shades and patterns of one of those colors would be nice to decorate a camper cabin.
When finished, please take a minute to double-check that all pins and needles have been removed. We do not want anyone to get stuck!
