Comedians Turn Laughs Into Cash For Camp Boggy Creek

Some of this country’s funniest comedians will step off the stage and onto the golf course to have a little fun and raise money for Florida’s seriously ill children.

On December 2nd and 3rd, comedians from across the United States will converge on central Florida for the 2004 John Boy & Billy Comedy Golf Classic at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee, FL.

The event begins with a private comedy show emceed by John Boy & Billy, 96.5 WHTQ’s nationally syndicated morning show hosts, beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at The Improv in Orlando. The show will feature Killer Beaz, musical comic Cledus T. Judd as well as Grandma Lee, recent star of NBC-TV’s “Last Comic Standing”. Then on Friday, Dec. 3, golfers will tee off for a fun-filled afternoon at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee. There will be hi-jinx and horseplay at every hole. Registration is at 11:00am and shotgun start is at 12noon. The tournament format is a four person “best ball” and the fee to play is $600 per foursome and $150 per individual golfer. Fee includes admission to the private pairings party and comedy show Thursday night at The Improv, lunch during golf, a gift bag, cart & greens fees and an awards ceremony dinner following the tournament. Golfers can pick up a registration form at David Maus Toyota in Longwood or online at www.whtq.com.

The event will benefit Camp Boggy Creek, a year-round camp for children ages 7-16 who have chronic or life threatening illnesses. The camp, located on 232 acres in Eustis, Fla, allows children whose lives have been a series of medical procedures and hospital stays to enjoy summer camp as just a “kid.” Between early morning swims and evening campfires, children have a chance to enjoy the summer camp experience with others coping with the same illness or condition and realize that they are not alone. There is no charge to attend camp. Camp Boggy Creek is solely supported by contributions and donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.
