Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen Foundation Sponsor Camper Cabin While real estate in Central Florida has never been hotter, the Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen Foundation recently made a purchase with a purpose by “buying” a cabin at Camp Boggy Creek. The Foundation’s generous donation to Camp Boggy Creek was designated as a cabin sponsorship, guaranteeing the gift of camp attendance for a cabin full of Florida’s seriously or chronically ill children for the summer months. Camp Boggy Creek is a year-round camp for children ages 7-16 who have chronic or life threatening illnesses. The camp, located on 232 acres in Eustis, Fla, allows children whose lives have been a series of medical procedures and hospital stays to enjoy summer camp as just a “kid.” Between early morning swims and evening campfires, children have a chance to enjoy the summer camp experience with others coping with the same illness or condition and realize that they are not alone. There is no charge to attend camp. Camp Boggy Creek is solely supported by contributions and donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. On July 8, Camp Boggy Creek officials welcomed Tom Werner, President, Adventis Health Systems, and Des Cummings Jr, President, Florida Hospital Foundation. The camp received a check for $150,000 for the cabin sponsorship. The Florida Hospital Foundation was formed in 1983 to assist Florida Hospital in fulfilling its mission as a provider of health care for the whole person, spiritually as well as physically. Now 21 years later, the Foundation board members and staff continue to help Florida Hospital meet the needs of the Central Florida community.
