Daytona Harley-Davidson 15th Annual Ride for Children

Riders Revel, Rev Up in Honor of Bruce Rossmeyer at Pre-Event Party

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2009) - Daytona Harley-Davidson and Destination Daytona will host a Pre-Ride Party and "Celebration of Bruce" from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. The celebration is open to all riders registered for the next morning's 15th annual Daytona Harley-Davidson Ride for Children, and their guests.

Event coordinator Beverly Marshall looks forward to a very special evening, centered at Saints & Sinners Pub on the grounds of Destination Daytona at U.S. 1 and I-95 in Daytona Beach. It will honor the life of Boggy Creek Camp founder Bruce Rossmeyer and all he did for Florida's seriously ill children. Rossmeyer, who was the builder and owner of Destination Daytona, died in a July motorcycle accident in Wyoming, "Although it will never be the same without Bruce," Marshall said, "we need to continue his legacy of supporting Camp Boggy Creek and the children it serves."

Rossmeyer's sprawling Ormond Beach facility is the home of the biggest Harley-Davidson dealership in Florida, and he owned Ft. Lauderdale Harley-Davidson, Pompano Harley-Davidson, Daytona Harley-Davidson and five other Harley dealerships, as well. Through Ride for Children since 1995, he raised over $1 million for the Eustis camp for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

This year's ride leaves from Destination Daytona for Camp Boggy Creek at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11. All registered riders can pick up credentials and new riders can register from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Pre-Ride Party. "Regular" rider registration costs $50, and a "VIP rider package" is $200.

Registered VIP riders will be served complimentary food and beverages by Daytona Pig Stand from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the VIP tent next to Saints & Sinners. Other Destination Daytona vendors will earmark a portion of their profits from food stations that night for the camp. Live entertainment from 104.1 FM's Monster Band of the Year, Full Circle, will begin at 7 p.m.
