Bruce Rossmeyer To Receive Outstanding Philanthropist Award "Biggest Harley-Davidson Dealer" Recognized for Work on Behalf of Camp Boggy Creek Eustis, Fla. (Aug. 27, 2007) - Since 1995, Bruce Rossmeyer's Ride For Children brings more than 2,000 riders together for a trek to Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis. Along the way, he's raised nearly $3 million dollars for Florida's year-round camp for seriously ill children. As a Founder and Board Member of Camp Boggy Creek, Bruce has committed his success, influence, time and talents to the cause of enriching the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses and providing them with camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound. Bruce is recognized as the biggest Harley-Davidson dealer in the nation and owns a dozen dealerships including the "World's Largest Harley-Davidson Dealership" at Destination Daytona, in Daytona Beach, FL. For his longstanding dedication and commitment to Camp Boggy Creek and many other charities for children, the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Central Florida Chapter will recognize Bruce Rossmeyer as the recipient of its Outstanding Philanthropist Award on National Philanthropy Day November 7.The Ride for Children remains exciting each year due to Bruce's personal involvement and commitment. By encouraging his personal and business associates to contribute to the event monetary or in-kind, contributions from riders and guests go directly to help the seriously ill children who attend Camp Boggy Creek. To date, the Ride has raised nearly $2 million. His goal for the 2007 Ride, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 14, is $500,000. The Ride for Children became a weekend event in 2004 when it was expanded to include the Champagne Ball. The Ball, which has raised almost $1 million dollars in three short years, is the perfect compliment to the existing festivities and allows Bruce the opportunity to engage and enlighten even more friends and associates with the camp's mission. Since first opening its doors in 1996, the Camp has served over 33,000 seriously ill children and their family members from throughout Florida. There is no charge to attend camp. Camp Boggy Creek is solely supported by contributions and donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.
