Camp Boggy Creek Needs Summer Camp Volunteers The kids of Camp Boggy Creek are looking for a few good men and women to serve as volunteer summer counselors. If you’re a 19 years of age or older and would like to volunteer a week or more of your summer to ensure that kids from across the state have the summer experience of their lives, then Camp Boggy Creek needs you! Camp Boggy Creek is a year-round camp for children ages 7-16 who have chronic or life threatening illnesses. The camp, located on 232 acres in Eustis, Fla, allows children whose lives have been a series of medical procedures and hospital stays to enjoy summer camp as just a “kid.” Between early morning swims and evening campfires, children have a chance to enjoy the summer camp experience with others coping with the same illness or condition and realize that they are not alone. There is no charge to attend camp. Camp Boggy Creek is solely supported by contributions and donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. Camp Boggy Creek is in urgent need of volunteers. Volunteers must be at least 19 years of age and be willing to spend a week at the residential camp. Background checks are required. The main job of the camp counselor is to play with kids and enjoy the volunteer experience of a lifetime! Volunteer applications can be requested online at http://www.BoggyCreek.org by clicking on the “Summer Volunteers Urgently Needed” link or by calling Robin Brubaker at 866-Go-Boggy ext. 293. A complete summer schedule of camp sessions is available on the Camp Boggy Creek website. For more information on Camp Boggy Creek, including how you can help, log onto http://www.BoggyCreek.org or call 866-Go-Boggy. |
